Did I just break my alternator?

While removing a good alternator from another vehicle, I touched the positive cable to the motor mount which sparked for half a second because I forgot to disconnect the battery first (I know it was a stupid mistake). The ground and plug wire were still connected. How much could I have damaged the alternator?
