Interested in knowing what country this flag was from..?

Saw an old flag for sale at a small shop in Brussels. The background is white with a red star and a red hammer and sickle. Any idea which country this was from? I suspect one of the soviet block countries.Remember the song "uneasy rider"? "Betcha he's even got a commie flag, tacked up on the wall inside of his garage" "But I ain't even got a garage", "You can call home and ask my wife!"
