2003 dodge neon clutch or alternator or what?

Alright so.. I have a dodge neon 2003 and well so first off i had a friend put in a Stereo and he had a friend help and they ****** up and burned up the alternator. so i had him put back the stock Stereo and then yesterday i drove the car all day (by the way it is a manual) and went to pick up my boyfriend so we could go to a concert and as soon as i pulled in the driveway the gears started sticking and then i turned it off and went in and got him and when we got out the car would start and now it will start fine but when you put it in gear it just dies and if you start it in first it will jump foward and die... just wanted some opinions.
