Commie block firearms popularity?

Did you guys Noticed that past 2-3 years, ex-com block weapons are gaining popularity. Weapons like AK's, SKS, Tokarev or Makarov's suddenly started to become hot cakes. Does anyone know why it's happening? Are they really good for hunting / Conceal carry or it's just another fad passing by?
