Why do people always say "if you don't like it here go to Cuba you commie" like it's some kind've threat?

Americans hate Cuba for reasons they've been fed but don't really understand. My criticism of Cuba is that their economy is enforced through highly authoritarian measures - no democracy, and the fear of living in a police state. Socialism can and should be democratic, even libertarian - free of an authoritarian state and coercion.
