I need help working on my 1993 ford ranger can anyone help me!?

So I started my truck up and moved it into the driveway, parked and shut the car off then immediately realized that i needed to move to let someone out of the garage, so i jumped back in to move and my car just totally wouldn't start. The lights and radio come on in my car and when i go to start it it just goes "CLICK". Due to my extreme frustration I put a new batter into it just a few days later. I'm pretty sure it isn't the alternator, My battery cables are pretty badly corroded and when i tried to hook up the new battery last night and got the same results i called it quits. I went out this morning to take yet ANOTHER look at it and it was already bubbling with battery acid or whatever it is. Could it be that my batter cables are just screwed and i need to replace them!? Maybe they're blocking the connection!? Help me please.

Car battery died. recharging question?

so i left my light on from 5pm yesterday all throughout the night. i tried to get my car started but its dead. Lights dim with audio system what else can i do?

Ok, I'm running a T1500-1bd to three fosgate p3 12's. My lights were dimming so i bought two red top optima batteries (one in front one in back) but still my lights dimmed. Then i did the big 3 upgrade using scosche 1/0 gauge wire on my car but my lights still dimmed. Last thing i did was upgrade from a 100 amp alternator to a 180 amp alternator.....This time when i drive my lights don't dim but when i'm at a stop they still do... i was thinking of either dropping a 5+ farad cap or putting a powercell battery like a kinetik. not too sure what to do any ideas?

well i got my battery and alternator tested and its not those, but whats happening is on a fresh battery my car will run all day then at the end of the day my car will die slowly like the alternator isnt charging. my buddy helped me and all he did was go out and wiggle my terminals on my battery and it worked fine until i started messing around with it. So i cleaned the corrosion off the terminals and wires and tightened everything down and its still doing it everything is tight on there and no corrosion no problems starting just constantly kills my battery so i have to charge it everyday any ideas?

How to convince my dad to let me get a nose job? I'm 13?

the throttle body opens up fuel pressure is good, the belt that runs the alternator, compressor and the pulley's broken while the car was running it didn't brake all the way it was a little bit left on the pulley's, but i think some of that belt got onto or into the timing belt and may have caused timing belt to skip/jump some teeth and jump time a bit.

Headlights dim, not assembly?

headlight assemblies are all good. I have a 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. New bulbs as well. Looked at the wire gauges and my fog light wires are thicker than my headlight wires, possibility? The bulb connection looks clean, no dirt, I'm not sure if it could be bad anyways? Checked battery output which is normal with car on, off and with my headlights on so I'm assuming battery and alternator are fine. It Could be a loose ground, but would there be other symptoms elsewhere? Any other ideas? PLEASE let me know!! Thanks in advance :)

It does sound like your valve timing could be out, worse scenario is is a valve is bent in the head causing low compression, i would get the valve timing checked and then have the compressions re-checked, if the cam-belt snapped or jumped a tooth when the alternator drive belt went through the cover it would bend a valve, clearing a trouble code will not make it run any better, my guess is you have valve problems, Do you know the garage who did the work?, sorry but if you dont its possible there trying to fob you off, after all you have obviously paid them for half a job, take the car back to them and demand they put it right, or tell them you are not happy with what they have done and to find out whats causing this fault, if the engine has been run with the belt timing wrong or the belt snapped i am 99% sure you have a bent valve or two, good luck

Basically my step dad and I are really worried and concerned about my mum. She has become someone completely different to who she used to be. She goes from being in a normal mood, to a angry and horrible mood in the blink of an eye. As each day goes by, it becomes so much more frequent and apparent. When she goes into this angry mood she says horrible things that you wouldn't say to your children or partner. She also can become very aggressive. She also often says silly and stupid things like "no one appreciates me cooking dinner every day", when we clearly do. Another example, I could clean the whole house for her, i do the dishes every day, I play with my little sister and clean after her, but somehow in her eyes I'm the laziest person ever. I don't understand, I really am not lazy. She doesn't seem to appreciate anything. She also gets mad at the weirdest of things, and causes huge arguments out of them. She is the one that always has to be right, and everyone else is wrong. I understand that my mum is under a lot of stress but I know this isn't just stress, this is something else.. there is something wrong. I love my mum more than anything, but we used to be very close and we seem to just be becoming very distant. I am seventeen years old, I am not some young "kid" who thinks they are perfect and that their parents aren't.. The problem really is her. Its causing our family to break apart, our house can never stay happy for more than a couple of days because its always argument after argument because of her behavior. There is a squealing in my car?

I have a 97 ford Taurus, we had a squealing in my car, we thought it was the belts, but they are new. we change the alternator, the squealing stopped for a day. came back again, we thought it might be the pulleys and changed those, still no change. the squealing is constant from the moment we start the engine, when we idle the noise grows quite, when we speed up it becomes intense. when we turn it changes pitch. I have no idea what is wrong with it, we do have air conditioning, and the water pump does need replacing but it does not have a leak its just old.

Replaced the alternator and battery recently, followed the procedure to get the computer to relearn it's idle and have driven 100kms. When the rpm gets below 1500rpm the battery light comes on. When sitting at an idle it is only at about 800rpm. Any idea what is going on, or does it just need to be driven more for the computer to relearn it's idle?

Car battery, alternator, or starter?

Lately my car won't start after leaving the car for about 6 hrs or so. It would crank but wont start and slowly if i retry the crank would start to slow down. and after awhile it would start to click like crazy. I've checkin the battery voltage which is fine 12v with it off and 14.3 with the car on. Also checked fuses and replaced a blown 15a fuse. But it still happens. Also if i drive my car around then it stays fine and normal operation its only when I leave my car for a couple hrs that I start to notice a difference. Perhaps Im missing somthing?

Is my Blazer's Fuel Pump Bad?

It is a 2001 Chevy Blazer LS with the 4.3l v6. We were driving down the road and it quit on us. it is not the alternator because i had that tested. i was told to replace the distributor cap and rotor so i did that. i got it to start and it idles really rough. when you step on the gas the car dies. the fuel pump sounded really labored when it would prime the system. then the fuel pump stopped working and it would not start. 3 days later the fuel pump did kick on but sounded labored and again rough idle and would die when stepping on the gas. then the pump stopped working again. is this the sign of a bad fuel pump?

Is my battery dead or could it be alternator or something else? Help!?

I try and start my car and it starts up for about 3 to 5 seconds then dies every time. I tried to get a jump from a buddy and it still didn't do anything. The lights in my car when the door is open still goes on so I'm not sure if it is the battery, unless the indoor lights use something else to power them. Also on my dash the battery light does turn on after I try and run the car and it dies. My car is a 2000 Pontiac GTP and this has never happened before. I remember growing up people would always say things like "f-ing commie!" and other such phrases. This made me grow a stigma towards communism and subsequently socialism before I even knew what those words meant. If it weren't for my mother being a hardcore socialist back in the day and having been involved in the communist party of Canada I would never have learned what it was really about. I mean, no one ever really explained it to me and whenever my teachers talked about it they briefly explained its dynamic and then dismissed it by saying it never worked before moving on. I felt like everyone around me was an expert on communism and socialism. It was only later on after I had done real research that I found out most people I thought knew a lot about it really knew nothing at all and based all their knowledge on recycled propaganda. I feel like this is more prevalent in the states having frequented this website for a while now. The alternator belt went, and when I got it repaired it ran lumpy with low compression. Had cam belt replaced with new, and throttle body reset, and not lumpy now, but compression really low. Head gasket ok, but car is really slow to pick up speed, and seems to stop accelerating at about 3600revs. Any ideas? How to get a pulley on ?

I bought new light weight pulleys for my nissan 240sx sr20det: power steering, alternator, and water pump. I have only tried putting the power steering one on so far and it won't go on straight. I've tried a pulley installer from autozone that failed to put it on straight, heating the pulley and greasing the shaft and still won't go on straight, I would like to avoid paying a shop to do it for me. if you already saw mechanics then I would assume they have checked the battery terminals and made sure the connectors are tight and not corroded. I would probably try testing with a wire (or volt meter if you have one... would be safer) at various points... get an insulated wire (like speaker wire) and hold one end to the metal part of the positive connector and then touch it someplace on the frame and see if you get a spark. then follow it to the other side and do the same... if you get a spark on the first side but not the second there is obviously a break in the wire. If it tests good on both sides then try replacing the negative.

I have an 88camry. the alternator recently pooped on me. as it was going, when I would put in in gear, or turn on the AC, the engine would slow down to such a slow idle it would almost die, then it did die. they told me that this is because it was drawing on the alternator and the alternator just didn't have enough oomph to keep the car going. so I got a new alternator. first few weeks it ran great, but now,whenever I put it in gear, it runs very , very slowly,the RPM's are like 300, barely enough to keep it running. and this is without the AC on. it acts like it's about to die at any second, just like it did before replacing the alternator. but you would think that the mechanic would have tested the entire system to see if it was something else. also it has had a recent tune up with new plugs and wires and rotor, etc. it's a fuel injected car. can anything else be going on here? the car does have 235,000 miles on it and usually runs so quiet it's like an electric car, it just purrs, but now it acts like it want's to die again when you put it in gear, and it did actually die once while in gear. the RPMS are sooo low, just barely enough to keep it running while in gear.

Check the fuel pump shutoff switch (usually in the trunk) and test/replace the relay. Check the EEC fuse to make sure it hasn't blown again. You might have have a short somewhere that killed the EEC, so you probably wouldn't have any fuel or spark (you can check the spark to confirm this theory). It could be some small frayed wire somewhere causing this. Hope you can figure it out.

I have ut 1600.00 in auto repairs with in the last 3 months. My truck starts to turn off as im driving. It shakes really bad when it is coming to a stop and all the electrical inside also turns off. I have taken it to 3 different mechanic and i have replaced the fuel pump, alternator, air mass flow, converters, and the battery but never fails every time i leave the mechanic the truck turns off half way home. my car has not been able to start 3 times this week because of the battery dying. i had the battery checked and was told there was nothing wrong with it, the wires are not loose, and the alternator is fine according to a mechanic. supposedly nothing abnormal could be found, and the mechanic would have to be there next time the battery dies to further analyze the situation. because at this point he can not find anything to fix. i commute very much, it is becoming extremely burdensome, any opinions/suggestions? thanks

HELP END A FAMILY DEBATE?

ok so we have verizon and when we first got them my brother and i both got LG Chocolate Touches because it was a buy one get one free. so after about a year or so i decided to get a smartphone. i bought a HTC Droid Eris off of ebay i was going to save my chocolate as a spare phone. the same week i bought the Droid Eris my brothers Chocolate broke due to his lack of care. two of the buttons stopped working, however you can bypass the buttons by using the screen. so the phone is still functional. so being a nice brother, i let my brother use my chocolate touch that was perfectly fine. so for the past few months i have been fine with the phone change, until the phone i bought off of ebay broke due to software problems(it constantly freezes and freaks out). so i asked my brother to have my chocolate back which the phone is perfectly fine, and he won't give it back saying that since i gave it to him it is his now. my argument is that i was planning on having my Chocolate touch as a backup incase the phone i got off of ebay broke. so now i need my back up back. i didnt have to give him the phone in the first place. my parents seem to lean his way in the argument because they believe that since i snooze i lose. they think i should just use the broken chocolate that was his that HE broke, which i find unfair because i didnt break it. please tell me what you think as this will help us solve the problem.

Car Audio System powerful enough?

Right now I have a 220 HO alternator and a standard car battery. I have a Kenwood 8104D 1000w max and Crunch Powerone 600.4 amp. I was planning on putting another amp at 2000w max. Bad battery or alternator?

I didn't drive my car for about a month, then the battery was dead. Jumped it, it worked. Then battery died not long after i turned it off. I would think that it would be a bad battery because I didn't use it for so long. Do alternators usually go bad when not used for awhile?
